Launch Date and Date Maths

Today is a special date, it’s the introduction of Tokyo International Maths Tutoring! The website is now online to register your interest in getting a Maths Tutor specialised in the UK curriculum and working with international families. We are also aiming to post regular updates, puzzles, articles and resources weekly on the site, Facebook and Instagram!

More information is due to come out over the next few months. However, Tokyo International Maths Tutoring is aiming to start taking students from September 2025!

Now, let’s get into some Maths! An even more special part of today is the following time and date! If you read a digital clock at 3pm 50 minutes and 25 seconds exactly and today’s date in the Japanese format (YY/MM/DD), you get a perfect reflection!

Note: This only works for a digital style of typing, as the “2” and the “5” digits can then be reversed.

The big questions…

  • When will this happen next (and how will you celebrate it)?

  • How many times will this happen this year?

  • When is the next year this will happen so frequently?

  • Does this year have the greatest number of reflective times and dates we could have in 1 year?

What questions could you investigate further?

Please get in contact if you have any interesting insights or want to find out more. Working through solutions to problems like this in a methodical and thorough way is just one aspect of learning to become a great mathematician!
